When I am overwhelmed
by the “what-if’s” I might face
And there’s a whirlwind of emotions in my mind
I could let thoughts take me captive
or put them in their place
And choose to leave those stumbling blocks behind

I know God has control of tomorrow
and He’s given me grace for today
So I can be anxious for nothing
If only I trust and obey

Whatever is pleasing in His sight
Whatever is pure and lovely and of good report
Thoughts of virtue and of praise
Will guide me all my days
I will not fear while trusting in the Lord

It’s so easy to be bound by worries of the past
And caught up in thoughts of what might have been
And though the future still seems shaky
​full of frightening unknowns
I won’t be enslaved by what’s around the bend
