Bill Itzel The Messiah would be found in the line of Abraham Through Isaac, and through Jacob, The blessing to all men He is the heir of Judah, where the scepter shall not fall In the kingly line of David, the Sovereign over all Only one born of a virgin, in the town of Bethlehem Crowned as Sovereign by the Magi, worshipped by an angel band Made to flee down into Egypt, by a king who knew the truth That the baby in the manger would have everlasting rule Chorus There is only One who can be the Messiah There is only One who can be the Christ There is only One raised for our redemption It is Jesus, our living Sacrifice In spirit of Elijah, a forerunner would come And the voice of God would say, this is my beloved Son A sinless life and ministry, that began in Galilee Speaking justice to the nations, Jesus Christ the nazarene Teaching truth in parables as Isaiah once foretold The King of the Jews, yet bringing gentiles in the fold He called Himself the Son of Man and preached good news to all A stone to make men stumble and a rock to make them fall It was Daniel who predicted the Messiah’s time to come For he said He would be cut off when the 62 were done He came riding on a donkey to set the captives free But betrayed for 30 pieces, in chains within a week Before accusers silent, forsaken, mocked, and scorned They gambled for His clothing, as psalmist David mourned They pierced His hands and feet, “Forgive them” He would shout Not one bone would be broken, but His blood would be poured out Crucified with criminals, buried with the rich Abandoned and rejected as He made an end to sin He prophesied that He would die, but would not see decay For three days passed and Jesus the Messiah had been raised |
